Tushar Pandit

Born on 24 the July 1967, Tushar was initiated in music since childhood by his illustrious grand father, Padma Bhushan Pt Krishnarao Shankar Pandit, the doyen of Gwalior Gharana, and his father Pandit L K Pandit.

An extremely promising and upcoming artist, Tushar was the recipient of scholarship from Sahitya Kala Parishad. He was also offered a scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Department of Culture.

He was a senior fellow of University Grants Commission and was conferred with the title "Sur Mani" by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. He was a regular broadcaster from All India Radio and Television.

Tushars style of singing was unique. His voice could easily transverse in three octaves with ease. Besides khayal, he was at ease in Tarana, Tappa, Thumri style and devotional melodies. Throughout first class in the university, Tushar was doing Ph D in Music.

He was blooming into a fine artist when his brilliant career was cut short in an unfortunate road accident on 1st September, 1994 in New Delhi.
